 Minister for Foreign and EU Affairs Evarist Bartolo had a cordial telephone call with the Japanese Ambassador to Malta, Hiroshi OE.

 
Both sides confirmed their mutual support on issues dealing with peace, nuclear disarmament, and multilateralism. 


Malta and Japan agreed that international disputes should be resolved through peaceful negotiations and in accordance with international law.

 
There was also consensus that the best way to solve international challenges is by working together to help each other face global crises such as the pandemic, the nuclear threat of weapons, and climate emergency.
 
The two countries pledged to support each other in international elections, including that of the United Nations Security Council. The Japanese Ambassador invited the Maltese Government to participate in the EXPO to be held in Osaka in 2025.
