Four arrested in connection with alleged trafficking of 21 kilos of cannabis

Police arrested four people in connection with the discovery of 21 kilos of drugs, suspected to be cannabis, with a street value of €420,000.

At around 6pm on Tuesday, police from the Anti-Drug Squad surrounded a van in Floriana in which there were two men, a 47-year-old Maltese from Senglea and an 32-year-old Italian
living in St Paul’s Bay. From a search of the van, two sealed boxes were found, one in a fridge and one in a chest freezer, and as soon as the police opened them they found 20 packages with a substance most likely to be cannabis.

The police operation continued with a search in garage and a house in St Paul’s Bay.

Two other Italian men tried to avoid arrest but were apprehended. Further searches uncovered more drugs in the van and inside the house.
