Issue of PBS Programme Statement of Intent reflecting the commitment towards quality broadcasting on the national stations

The Public Broadcasting Services has issued the Programme Statement of Intent for the 2021/2022 autumn schedule. This call for content is for programmes on television, radio and online media. For the first time, the PSI is being issued for all three platforms at once.

The Programme Statement of Intent is a modern and updated one, taking into account numerous recommendations made by the industry during the conference on the quality of public broadcasting held last month.

Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Carmelo Abela welcomed this step and noted how the Programme Statement of Intent is being issued earlier than in previous years. This offers a better opportunity. In the future, however, the aim for more ambitiousness remains.

“In line with what we announced in the conference, we are embarking on a strengthening with all those involved in broadcasting to ensure better quality, professionality and efficiency. We are also strengthening contributions by allocating €30 million over five years for the PBS along with a new €800,000 fund aimed at improving quality in the industry,” Minister Abela emphasised.

The Programme Statement of Intent and all details related to the application are available on the website www.tvm.com.mt.

The call for programmes remains open until Sunday, 28th February at noon.
