Ambassador of the Italian Republic Fabrizio Romano presented his Letters of Credence to President George Vella at Sant’Anton Palace, Attard.

President Vella referred to his latest meeting with President Sergio Mattarella, which he described as a clear example of the traditionally excellent relations between the two countries.

The President stated that Malta continues to be fully committed to the unique and special dynamics of its relations with Italy. The extensive number of high-level visits, agreements and tangible projects reflect the exceptional bilateral relations that the two countries have built over the years.

Ambassador Romano and President Vella also touched upon the challenges brought about by the COVID pandemic, as well as the common vision that the two countries share for stability in the Mediterranean region. An exchange of views was held on migration and the need for an effective and just European mechanism.
