The Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, presided over the signing of an agreement through which the process to regenerate Santa Margerita Square in Ta ’Sannat will be triggered with an investment of around € 3.7 million. By signing this agreement together with the Ta ’Sannat Local Council, this project will see several crucial works that will improve the quality of life of the residents.
Minister Clint Camilleri explained how, “after repairing Triq Sannat and the surrounding area, this project to regenerate the square is a priority for the Ministry for Gozo and the Ta ‘Sannat Local Council in order to improve accessibility in ‘this square, which is one of the largest open spaces in Gozo. ” He listed the works that will be carried out in the regeneration of this square, including the construction of culverts through which all services will pass; construction of culverts for rainwater; paving and new surface for the square; parking arrangement; pedestrian areas and traffic lanes; new street furniture and a new lighting system.
The Mayor of Ta ‘Sannat Philip Vella thanked the Minister for Gozo who is working so hard to improve Gozitan villages with infrastructure projects, and now looks forward to starting this very essential project that will improve the center of the locality of Ta ‘Sannat.
This square is one of the largest public areas in Gozo, as apart from being the picturesque Church of Santa Margerita, it also serves as the main street between Ta ’Ċenċ and Triq Dun Xand Aquilina.
