The Maltese character in the streets that can be found in the heart of the village of Luqa is being protected and beautified with an investment made in support of the Local Council by the Ministry of Interior, National Security and -Law Enforcement and Local Enforcement Agency (LESA).
Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement Minister Byron Camilleri visited the three niches that had been restored. They were also painted in colors based on the old shades they had in the past.
“This project demonstrates the wisdom of Luqa Council and its dedication to the protection of the local cultural heritage,” said the Minister, who praised those local councils that joined with LESA and the Association for Local Councils to improve their locality.
The Minister explained how hundreds of thousands of euros a year are going to this end, while in the coming months this concept will be further strengthened.
“Everyone enjoys a more organized society. By enforcing, you are protecting society and law enforcement. The citations should not be profitable for the government – so we choose to give back this money to the people, “stressed the Minister.
Among the projects being supported are those that include investment in sports facilities, open spaces and restoration.
