Full commitment in the field of education against gender-based violence and domestic violence

“It will be my commitment to take forward awareness-raising initiatives to raise awareness from an early age about gender-based violence and domestic violence. I am fully committed to making students in our schools aware of the effects of abuse and violence on them and those around them, and I also see to it that even children who are victims, or have seen acts before them, are helped. of domestic violence “, stated the Minister for Education Justyne Caruana during a meeting with Audrey Friggieri, the Commissioner for Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence.

During the meeting, Minister Caruana and Ms Friggieri agreed that a conference should be held early next year with the aim of raising awareness on the subject. This conference will be addressed to all educators in the country and will lead to a certificate of accreditation for all attendees. All educators will be able to benefit from this knowledge on a personal as well as a professional level. It is important that everyone who educates is aware of the various realities that children and young people live in. Their life experiences cannot be ignored when they dissolve and bind in their experience. Sensitivity to these realities helps for a more humane climate in school, for better relationships between students and their educators, as well as for more effective learning.
