UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are to meet in Brussels later this week after a lengthy telephone conversation, their second in days, failed to reach agreement on a Brexit deal.
In a joint statement released afterwards they wrote, “As agreed on Saturday, we took stock of the ongoing negotiations. We agreed that the conditions for finalising an agreement are not there due to the remaining significant differences on three critical issues: level playing field, governance and fisheries.”
