Maypole products may have contaminated sesame seeds: Health Directorate

The Environmental Health Directorate has warned against the consumption of three Maypole products which may be contaminated with a pesticide in the sesame seeds.

In the past weeks, it was found that the chemical ethylene oxide might have been used to control certain organisms in sesame seeds exported from India. Such use of ethylene oxide is not approved.

 

The affected products are: Qagħaq tal-ġunġlien (Sesame Rings), Lots and Durability dates: L46203; 11/02/2021, L48203; 25/02/2021; Timpana (frozen product) Lot: L46205 with durability date: 13/11/2021; and Sausage rolls (frozen product) Packet of 24, Lot:
L46207 with durability date: 15/11/2021.
