As the world tentatively moves towards a new normal, ŻfinMalta, Malta’s national dance company, has just announced its physical return, with the launch of the company’s programme for the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
Presented during a press conference earlier today, the programme showcases ŻfinMalta’s versatility and dedication to the contemporary dance scene in Malta, featuring 7 powerful productions, outreach initiatives, open classes, and artist residencies, among others.
“Once again, ŻfinMalta are presenting an exciting season for us as the audience, but also for local and international artists,” stated Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government José Herrera. “I am pleased to see Malta’s national dance company establish itself and build bridges with other public cultural organisations, for the benefit of the local arts and culture scene.”
“ŻfinMalta’s work during the past months is a testament to the company’s versatility and resilience in such trying times”, stated Arts Council Malta’s Chairperson Albert Marshall. “Through flexible communication strategies and an exploration of new platforms, dance has accompanied us through a very unprecedented period.”
Alison White, ŻfinMalta’s Chairperson, also complimented the programme’s commitment to push boundaries with its unique productions. “Through our vast repertoire, this season we aim to once again stimulate debate on issues which are relevant to our times, even those which can be difficult to discuss.”
“This programme reflects our values and goals as Malta’s national dance company,” stated ŻfinMalta’s artistic director Paolo Mangiola. “It is a blend of adventurous productions, outreach and education programmes, as well as opportunities for our dancers and artists to thrive and grow.”
ŻfinMalta’s programme for the 2020-2021 season is now available on zfinmalta.org, and season tickets can be purchased on kultura.mt.
