A number of restrictive measures by medical staff are due to come into force today after the Medical Association of Malta said the government’s failed to immediately ban mass events and a COVID-19 spike.
Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne met with the MAM on Monday but now the union said the strike action will go ahead and continue until August 12th.
The action by the MAM will see disruption at elective surgeries, outpatient appointments, and community clinics.
Labour MEP Alex Agius Saliba has condemned the action saying it is “insensitive” and “making no sense” while the nation battles COVID-19.
