Prime Minister visits Westin Dragonara Resort after € 40 million investment

Prime Minister Robert Abela together with the Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Julia Farruiga Portelli this morning visited the Westin Dragonara Resort in St. Julian’s which in recent months has made an investment of € 40 million in extensive renovation.

Prime Mnister Robert Abela welcomed the investment made to show a sign of confidence in the tourism industry of our country. He also thanked the workers working in the hotel and hospitality sector.


Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Julia Farrugia Portelli stated that this investment of € 40 million is important in order to improve Malta’s tourism product.

At the same time, she acknowledged the importance of the financial assistance provided by the Government to the workers and said that this was a crucial factor in keeping all the staff of this hotel on the company’s books.

Minister Farrugia Portelli added that “today we have a situation where this hotel is operating again with encouraging numbers with an occupancy of 40%.”
