The Ministry for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity Michael Falzon has implemented 85% of all social measures of the Budget for the year 2020. Measures most of which positively affect the family, the elderly , disabled people, low-income people and those most vulnerable.
These details were announced at a news conference by Minister for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity Michael Falzon and Permanent Secretary Mark Musù. During the conference, the measures taken were highlighted, where 22 out of 26 measures have been taken so far. This is the highest budget implementation rate ever reached by mid-year.
Among the measures carried out is the increase of seven euros (€ 7.00) per week to all pensioners, Cost of Living Compensation – three euros and forty-nine cents (€ 3.49) per week, and various measures for service, widows, and invalidity pensioners.
About 4,000 families a year are enjoying the bonus for childbirth or adoption, increases in children’s allowance, increases in the supplement paid to the pension paid to widows with children along with measures to promote the family.
