The International Fireworks Festival starts tomorrow in Gozo

The four-day International Fireworks Festival will begin tomorrow, Friday 24 July, in Xaghra, Gozo.

Six foreign and one local fireworks complex will be participating in the competitive area of ​​the festival, which this year coincides with its 19th edition. The foreign complexes come from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy (two), France and Ukraine. The local complex is that of St Andrew’s Band Fireworks, Luqa.

The Swiss company La Pirotecnica Sagl, CSP Pyrotechnique of France and the Italian company Polleggi Pyrotecnics will be participating in the session that will take place in Xaghra.

They will also be accompanied by pyrotechnic exhibitions synchronized with music from six rooms and Gozitan fire associations – Għaqda Għoxrin ta ‘Lulju, Sannat; St. Mary’s Fire Association, Olive; Fire Association, Fontana; Heart of Jesus Fontana Brothers Fireworks Factory, Fontana; Fifteenth of August Fireworks Factory, Sannat and San Pawl Fire Section, Munxar.

The festival will be organized by the Ministry for Tourism and Consumer Protection together with the Tourism Authority, in coordination with the Ministry for Gozo regarding the festival session to be held in Xaghra, Gozo.

Details on the session from Gozo and on the rest of the sessions of the festival were given by the Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Julia Farrugia Portelli together with the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri and the Chairman of the Authority Malta Tourism Agency Gavin Gulia at a press conference held on Thursday, 23 July 2020, at Belvedere, Xaghra, Gozo.

“It is with great satisfaction that we will be launching this year’s fireworks festival from Gozo where this tradition also has deep roots as reflected by such a substantial Gozitan participation. We also wanted to bring this event to Gozo so that it can be enjoyed even by Gozitans who will not be able to cross to Malta for this event, ”said the Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Julia Farrugia Portelli.

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri announced that, “for the first time, six Gozitan fire chambers and associations will be giving a show together with foreign fire chambers”. He said that on this night of a show in Xaghra, Gozo will be opening the International Fireworks Festival. This festival serves as entertainment for all those who visit the island and will continue to attract more visitors to Gozo.
