The government has refutted a story in today’s Times of Malta that had claimed that the working conditions of nurses at St Luke’s, Karen Grech and Gozo Hospital would be changed under the new contract signed between the government and Vital Global Healthcare.
In a statement the Government states that the contract between the Government and Vital Global Healthcare, published by the Ministry of Health in the past few days, confirming that while hospital workers Gozo, St Luke’s and Karen Grech will keep government workers, their working conditions can not be changed except with their consent and after agreement with the union that represents them. In case there is neither agreement nor consensus, any working condition changed. That is quite clear from the contracts signed.
The Ministry of Health also recalls the agreement signed between the Government and the MUMN, as well as between the Government and the GWU, to continue giving protection to workers.
