Malta lost 2-0 to England at Wembley in their World Cup qualifier, a result that gave the hosts three points but a performance that failed to impress more fancied opponents.

For Malta it was always going to be a mammoth task but passion and committment limited England to two goals.

Admittedly it might have been more but for some surperb heroics from Hogg in goal.

England took the lead mid-way through the first half when Sturridge headed home and then doubled their lead when Dele Ali srambled home just before the break.
