A casual election will be held in the ninth electoral district following the resignation of Leo Brincat from Parliament, after his appointment to the European Court of Auditors was approved last week.
The ninth district consists of Ħal Għargħur, L-Imsida, San Ġwann, Is-Swieqi, Ta’ Xbiex.
Clifton Grima, the former mayor of Msida, had the highest number of votes in the last election among the Labour candidates who failed to get elected.
He has confirmed that he will contest the casual election.
