Nurses at the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital have started industrial over working conditions.
A spokesman for the nurses, the MUMN( Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses), said the action was being taken over staff shortages.
The spokesman said that junior nurses were being tasked with work normally assigned to senior nurses.
The union said that in the meantime patients would continue to receive all necessary treatment at the Emergency Department.
