Minister Joe Mizzi attends the International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly in Canada

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Joe Mizzi attended the International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly, in Montreal, Canada.

The ICAO Assembly, is an event held under the auspices of the United Nations and meets every three years, with this year’s agenda primarily dominated by the discussion on the introduction of Global Market Based Measures aimed at reducing the effects of aviation on the environment mainly caused by gaseous emissions from aircraft engines.

Malta fully supports the measures being proposed by ICAO and plans to implement such measures as of 2021.

During the assembly, Minister Mizzi met various counterparts, including EU Commissioner of Transport, Violeta Bulc. Minister Joe Mizzi had also the opportunity to discuss the potential of the Civil Aviation Register with different parties.

Transport Malta’s Civil Aviation Directorate is pursuing a growth strategy and has seen a substantial over the past three years, with the number of aircraft and business jets registered reaching 239.

Minister Mizzi was accompanied by Transport Malta Chairman and other officials from Transport Malta Civil Aviation Directorate.
