In his opening speech, Minister Silvio Schembri highlighted the strategic role of the iGaming industry in Malta’s economic direction and national vision.
“iGaming in Malta is not just about economic growth – it’s a driving force of innovation, global visibility, and quality employment. As part of the Malta Vision 2050, we are committed to keeping Malta at the forefront of digital transformation. Our focus is on creating the right conditions for the industry to continue thriving through innovation, sustainability, and inclusive progress that benefits current and future generations,” said Minister Schembri.
The Minister also underlined that in 2024, the iGaming sector contributed nearly 7% to Malta’s Gross Value Added, proving its enduring strength within an increasingly diversified economy.
GamingMalta CEO Ivan Filletti praised the summit’s role in highlighting Malta’s leadership in digital entertainment. “The SBC Summit continues to show that Malta plays a central role in the iGaming industry. What sets us apart is the ecosystem we’ve built, a strong regulatory framework, access to skilled talent, and close collaboration between industry and government. iGaming has become a core part of our digital economy, and we’re focused on helping it grow sustainably and innovatively.”
The Summit also reflected Malta’s wider ambitions under Malta Vision 2050, which places innovation, sustainability, and high-value sectors at the heart of the country’s economic transformation. Ongoing efforts focus on updating regulatory frameworks, driving digital innovation, including in AI and immersive technologies, and attracting both local and international talent.
