Prime Minister Robert Abela welcomed the athletes who represented Malta at the Games of the Small Countries of Europe held in Andorra last week at the Auberge de Castille. Accompanied by the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, the Prime Minister congratulated the athletes, technical staff and the Maltese Olympic Committee for the best result in history achieved by Malta in these games when our country competed abroad.

The Maltese contingent won no less than 56 medals, 13 of which were gold. Prime Minister Robert Abela explained this success as a maximum commitment of the athletes, coaches and local administrators. The athletes and the sports technical teams behind them have benefited from substantial funding in recent years, particularly from the National Social and Development Fund.
