Housing Minster Roderick Galdes visits Hal Farruga project

The Minister for Social and Affordable Housing Roderick Galdes visited the ongoing works on the largest social housing project ever undertaken in Malta. This project is spread over a site of approximately 10,000 square metres in Ħal Farruġ.

Minister Roderick Galdes explained that through a substantial investment of approximately €40 million, this project will be making a significant difference in the social housing sector. The same project is expected to include approximately 267 apartments and 300 garages and spaces for cars. During his visit, together with representatives from Malita Investments p.l.c. and the Housing Authority, the minister was able to closely follow the works and advances being made on this site.

This project will include a total of three apartment blocks, which apartments consist of a different number of bedrooms in order to cater for different needs. The minister mentioned the fact that this project will also be in line with the Malta 2050 Vision, which vision aims to continue to address the waiting list for social housing. The minister stated that he looks forward to this project being able to continue to offer safe and dignified residences to more families.

“The high quality that we are seeing in social housing projects is being reflected in the quality of life of the beneficiaries, who will need state assistance at that period of their lives. As a government, we are committed to continuing to invest in these quality residences and to be a support for these families,” he concluded.
