Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne inaugurated a new community health centre in the heart of Fgura.
This auberge will be offering six different services to more than twelve thousand residents of Fgura and the surrounding localities.
This auberge is one of a series in the community and health centers that are being built or renovated around Malta. The Deputy Prime Minister stated that “these are an essential link in the field of healthcare in our country and therefore an unprecedented investment is being made to increase the auberges and facilities within them, while improving the services offered. in the community so that hospitals are only used for more serious cases. ”
Services offered at the Fgura auberge will include a family doctor’s clinic, nursing, spoken language pathology, physiotherapy, podiatry and mental health services. On the latter, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the decentralization of mental health care is one of the principles of the national mental health policy, which was launched last year. “Apart from Fgura, this service will be spreading to more auberges and health centers, with the aim of making it more accessible to our communities,” said Deputy Prime Minister Fearne.
Present for the inauguration were the Chief Executive of Primary Health Care, Roseanne Camilleri and the Mayor of Fgura Pierre Dalli who thanked the Minister for Health for this project which will tangibly improve the lives of the residents of Fgura and its surroundings.
