The Prime Minister Robert Abela visited an international company that specializes in solutions that use artificial intelligence, SmartCow. This company has its base in several cities around the world including Malta, Paris, Milan, Singapore, and soon another base in Dubai.
During the visit, the Prime Minister reiterated that the creation of work is the basis of the creation of wealth. But we want to make sure that the work we attract is of quality, which ensures that you live a better life. Our country will remain open for business and we will continue to attract companies that bring quality careers to Malta.
Prime Minister Robert Abela also noted how companies like SmartCow are the ones preparing our country for the future. We are investing early in human capital, so that in Malta we see such sectors grow and make us more competitive and more attractive than other countries. With this company it precisely reflects the economic transition that the Government is implementing, in fact 90% of the workers it employs are engineers.
The Prime Minister pointed out again the importance of the artificial intelligence sector and the quality work opportunities that exist in this field. The Prime Minister concluded that we must encourage more Maltese to choose these careers, and the Government will continue to incentivize this, even by strengthening the stipend in those areas most needed by society. SmartCow, in addition to research and analysis on AI technology, turns software that uses AI into hardware that can then be used in various products such as security cameras.
SmartCow will also be one of the exhibitors during the TechXpo which will be held between 19 and 21 September at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali. This event aims to serve as a platform to explore the dynamic fields of artificial intelligence (AI), emerging technologies, business networking, and career opportunities.
An event addressed to technology enthusiasts but also a space for the Maltese industry to exhibit the investment being made in technology, with the aim of attracting more competitiveness, quality economic growth and resilience in the sector. Also present for the visit was the Minister for the Economy, European Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri and the CEO of MDIA Kenneth Brincat.
