97 kilos of cocaine with a street value of over €11 million were found hidden in a merchant ship that had docked at the Malta Freeport in Marsaxlokk on Saturday night.
A random search by divers from a security company discovered a number of packages wrapped in plastic in a compartment at the bottom of the ship.
The divers immediately informed the authorities and after the packages were released from the compartment and lifted to the floor, it turned out that they were full of cocaine, with a market value in the region of €11 million.
The ship, registered in Portugal, left Colon, in Panama on July 24, on his way to Gioia Tauro, in Italy.
