On the first day of the Mediterranean Film Festival, the principles on which the National Film Strategy will be based until 2030 were launched. These principles include film education, talent development, investment in infrastructure, improvements in fiscal incentives offered to producers as well as international cooperation.
This was announced in a news conference addressed by the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo and Film Commissioner Johann Grech. Minister Clayton Bartolo pointed out how in recent years local knowledge about the film industry has increased substantially.
“A long-term plan is needed to ensure a future through which the film industry in Malta becomes one of the main contributors to the Maltese economy. We believe that there is still a lot to be done but we have the will to reach this ambitious goal,” said Minister Clayton Bartolo.
Meanwhile, Film Commissioner Johann Grech mentioned how the Mediterranean Film Festival is a clear example of how Malta is greatly strengthening its visibility on an international scale.
