Prime Minister joins memorial service for European Parliament President David Maria Sassoli in Strasbourg

Prime Minister Robert Abela attended a memorial service for European Parliament President David Maria Sassoli in Strasbourg. The ceremony took place on Monday 17 January, at the beginning of the plenary session of the European Parliament.

In comments to the media, the Prime Minister reiterated that David Maria Sassoli was a pillar of the European community and that it was an honor to work closely with him as President of the European Parliament and within the family of the Socialists and Democrats.

“He was a pioneer of European ideals with a socialist heart and left behind a legacy in European politics that we will continue to live and experience for generations to come,” said Prime Minister Abela.

He expressed his condolences to the relatives and relatives of David Maria Sassoli.

Prior to the ceremony, Prime Minister Robert Abela also had a meeting with Acting President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
