Malta suffered a second defeat in four days as they went down 2-0 away to Lithuania in their World Cup qualifier.
The defeat was a bitter blow for Malta who showed plenty of committment but just failed to find the finishing touches.
Malta were more inventive in the first half moving the ball around with confidence.
Pietro Ghedin’s lads were unable to convert the several chances they created and just as it looked as the match was heading for a draw, Lithunia forged ahead when headed in from a corner.
There was still time for Malta to pull level but that hope was extinguished when Jonathan Caruana was again sent off, his foul inside the box gifting Lithuania a penalty.
2-0 the final score but not a true reflection on what might have been for Malta who remain without a poi
