The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) is carrying out an Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme that will see selected military personnel travel to the United States to train as pilots.
Candidates who successfully complete the AFM's selection process will undergo training to operate either fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters.
The programme is managed through the United States Air Force's Security Assistance Training Programme and is funded by the European Union's Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI).
Training for Malta's Military Aviation Operations
The initiative supports the development of qualified pilots for the AFM's aviation operations.
AFM Air Wing pilots carry out a range of duties, including search and rescue, aerial surveillance and border monitoring.
The training programme forms part of efforts to maintain the skills and operational capabilities required by Malta's military aviation personnel.
