In a meeting with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Henna Virkkunen, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke mainly about our country's priorities, including the importance of ensuring the digital core in a Single Market that works for everyone, including for a Member State like our country.
At the Auberge de Castille, Prime Minister Robert Abela stated that European connectivity, even in times of international challenges in the energy sector, is crucial. He explained that all of this is related to the protection of critical infrastructure.
With the European Commissioner responsible for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Dr Abela also reiterated the need for solidarity and a common approach in areas such as the maritime sector, also in the context of the developments in the Mediterranean in relation to the tanker Arctic Metagaz.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Ian Borg, Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri, Head of the Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister, Colonel Mark Mallia and the Prime Minister's Advisor on European Affairs, Leandro Borg.
