The General Workers’ Union welcomes the presentation of the Malta Vision 2050, viewing it as an important step and a historic moment for the future of the nation.
The Union believes that Malta is at a pivotal point in its development and that a modern and mature country has a responsibility to look beyond electoral cycles and establish a clear direction for future generations. In this context, the Malta Vision 2050 represents a significant national commitment that can enhance economic competitiveness, improve quality of life, and bolster Malta’s social and environmental resilience.
The Union is pleased that the Vision emphasizes sustainable economic growth, investment in skills, efficient services, and responsible planning of land and resource use. These are essential elements for building a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive nation.
It reaffirms its commitment to actively and constructively contribute to this process. Social dialogue must be a key pillar in implementing the Malta Vision 2050 so that economic development aligns with social justice and the collective good.
The General Workers’ Union believes that if we collaborate with a sense of national responsibility, the Malta Vision 2050 can serve as the foundation for a more resilient, ambitious, and just Malta for both current and future generations.
