This increase in demand highlights the crucial importance of continued investment in emergency pre-hospital services. Minister Jo Etienne Abela claimed that these six new vehicles will therefore be added to the existing fleet, where the number of vehicles has now risen to 11. He explained that these vehicles allow the teams to get to the patients faster, particularly in emergencies that threaten the patient's life, such as cardiac arrest and serious trauma.
"Early and advanced intervention improves the results for patients, and thus they are delivered to the Emergency Department in as optimized a condition as possible," repeated Dr. Abela.
The minister also announced that apart from the expansion of the fleet, the number of consultants specialized in pre-hospital care has also been doubled. "Our staff used these vehicles to save patients' lives. We are committed to continuing to expand, improve and introduce concepts of excellence in emergency care," concluded Dr. Abela.
