Lorenzo Vella, who died earlier this year, served as Malta's deputy permanent representative to the EU, permanent representative to the Council of Europe and the Head of the European Commission representation in Malta.

During a ceremony at the Republic Day monument, in Triq Diċembru 13 the Labour Party commemorated when Malta became a Republic under the guidance of Prime Minister Mintoff.
Sir Anthony Mamo became Malta's first President on that day.

Prime Minister Robert Abela together with the Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes inaugurated the opening of Dar il-Qawsalla.
A house that will be welcoming members of the LGBTIQ community who are facing socio-economic challenges and are homeless.
