A man died in the sea off St Julian's on Tuesday after getting into difficulty while swimming, the police said.
According to police, the man was an Irish national.
The incident happened shortly after midday near the Cavalieri Hotel in St Julian's.
Emergency services recovered the body from the water and although he was treated on shore he died shortly afterwards.

A worker lost his life after he was crushed between machinery and goods he was unloading from a container.
The accident occurred at around 6.00pm inside a factory in Triq is-Santwarju tal-Ħlas, Qormi.
A medical team was called to the scene but sadly the worker was pronounced dead at the factory.
