Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus and Zero Sei made a strong start in the semi-finals of the Enemed Women’s Futsal League, both registering first-leg victories to boost their chances of reaching the final.
Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus overcame St George’s with a 3-1 win in a closely contested match. Jasmine Vella Turner gave Luxol the lead, but Shania Spiteri responded with an equaliser for St George’s. Vella Turner then struck again to put her side back in front, before Ruth Steer Cheetham added a third goal to wrap up the victory. The return leg between the two teams is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 April.
Meanwhile, Zero Sei delivered an attacking display to beat Swieqi United Futsal 6-3. Vanessa Carneiro led the way with a hat-trick, while Rocio Robles contributed two goals. Nicole Espinosa also got on the scoresheet to complete Zero Sei’s tally. Swieqi United managed to find the net three times through a brace from Juciela Vale and a goal by Carolina Mendosa, but it was not enough to overturn the result.
