The Labour Party Congress 2026 opened in Gozo under the theme “Malta Aqwa – ikteb il-kapitlu li jmiss,” highlighting the island’s role in national development.

Prime Minister Robert Abela said the congress brings together different perspectives to shape Malta’s future, noting the country’s stability despite global uncertainty. He pointed to a strong DBRS Morningstar rating and outlined measures to maintain stable energy prices, reduce taxes, and support businesses.

Party President Alex Sciberras said Malta’s progress is driven by people’s ideas and collective ambition, calling for continued collaboration and action.

Plans announced include a new study hub at the Gozo campus, increased student stipends, and continued investment in education and services. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to Gozo, with €122 million allocated in the latest budget and a long-term goal to make the island climate-neutral.
