Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Program Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi welcomed Romania’s Minister for Investments and European Projects Dragoș-Nicolae Pîslaru during an official visit to Malta, which included visits to the shore-to-ship project and the Grand Master’s Palace.
During a meeting held, Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi stated: “This visit provided us with the opportunity to demonstrate how Malta is effectively utilizing European Funds to implement the measures outlined in the electoral program and deliver tangible results for citizens. We discussed not only projects that have already been completed, but also those currently underway, with a focus on investments that promote environmental sustainability and economic growth. The shore-to-ship project is a clear example of how we are reducing emissions in the port and improving air quality through European Union funding.”
The Minister added that these projects continue to strengthen the Government’s commitment to effectively implementing the electoral program through strategic investments that leave a long-term positive impact on the country.
Minister Dragoș-Nicolae Pîslaru thanked the Minister for the invitation and cooperation, stating that the visit provided an important opportunity to see first-hand how European Funds are being implemented in Malta. He noted: “Malta clearly demonstrates how a country can maximize the benefits of European funding through strategic planning and effective implementation. The projects we have seen, both infrastructural and those linked to cultural heritage, highlight the added value of the European Union’s cohesion policy.” He further stated that Malta’s experience offers good practices that could benefit other countries, including Romania, particularly in the field of integrating public policy with European investment.
During the visit, both Ministers emphasized the importance of cooperation between Member States to ensure that European Funds continue to contribute to sustainable development, digitalisation, and an improved quality of life for citizens.
