Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri, visited the prison bakery at the Kordin Correctional Facility.
The bakery, dating back to around 1850, remains one of the oldest and largest in Malta and continues to produce fresh bread daily for inmates, as well as goods sold to the public at certain times of the year.
During the visit, the Prime Minister praised the work of inmates and staff, highlighting the bakery’s role in rehabilitation by providing training and skills that support reintegration into society and help reduce stigma associated with incarceration.
