The Ministry for Gozo and Planning announces that the quail hunting season opens on Monday 13th April and will remain open until Sunday 3rd May, 2026, from two hours before sunrise until noon during all days of the quail season. The ministry also announces that the dove hunting season opens on Monday 20th April and will remain open until Sunday 3rd May, 2026, from two hours before sunrise until noon during all days of the dove season.
This is after, with reference to the Special Hunting Licence in Spring 2026, Legal Notices 80/2026 and 81/2026 declaring the hunting season for quail and dove were published.
Any quail and doves that are hunted during the open season for the species concerned must be reported immediately and anyone who goes out hunting and does not catch anything must report the hunting effort, as explained in the Special License.
The national quotas are 2,400 quail and 1,500 doves. There are no individual quotas.
