Hospice Malta has inaugurated a new outdoor space, designed to provide serenity and support to patients and their families. Set in an environment of open gardens and courtyards, this space offers a relaxed environment where patients can interact with their families, with the necessary privacy, in moments of tranquility.

This project, funded by the Voluntary Organisations Projects Scheme (VOPS) of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, includes the necessary equipment for garden furniture, including chairs, tables and benches with an investment of €20,000.

Present for this inauguration were the Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia, and the Chief Executive of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) Mauro Pace Parascandolo.

Hospice Malta’s services are diverse and the primary role is to provide palliative care in the Maltese Islands. The new building at St Michael Hospice includes day therapy, 16 beds, clinics, facilities for physiotherapy, psychology and social, emotional and spiritual support, along with courtyards, gardens and open spaces.

In her speech, Minister Julia Farrugia explained how “In moments when life is at its most delicate, the quality of care and the dignity of the person become the highest priority. This new space is not just a financial investment but is an investment in compassion, respect and the values that distinguish our society. Through the support of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, we are giving a clear signal that a Government that listens and acts is a Government that places the human being at the centre of its policy.”

“The extraordinary work of Hospice Malta reminds us that the strength of a country is not measured solely by its economy, but by the way we care for the most vulnerable among us. We are determined to continue investing in initiatives such as these, so that every Maltese and Gozitan family feels that in these difficult moments they are never alone,” concluded the Minister.

Chief Executive Mauro Pace Parascandalo thanked Hospice Malta for all the work they do in society and wished them continued success in the future.
