On Wednesday afternoon, the Civil Protection Department was alerted that a person had fallen into the sea and was unable to return to shore in the area beneath Fort St. Elmo, Valletta.
Rescue teams were immediately sent to the scene, where the individual was successfully located and safely recovered using a CPD RHIB.
The rescued person was transported to the Armed Forces of Malta base at Haywharf, where he was assessed on site by an Emergency Department team and subsequently admitted to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical care.
