Prime Minister Robert Abela visits start-up that is creating limestone using 3D printing and recycled materials

PM Robert Abela visiting start up company Ambitious

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the facilities of Ambitious in Birkirkara, a biotechnological start-up founded in 2022, which brings together biology, materials and digital fabrication through sustainable production systems.                                            During the visit, the Neolithic Futures project was presented, which uses construction waste and other materials such as seashells to recreate limestone through 3D printing. For this project, the Ambitious company is collaborating with two local companies operating in other sectors, that of BilVen Ltd which works in the construction sector and Bacchus Restaurant which operates in the food industry. All this shows that different sectors can work together to create sustainable solutions.                                                                               During this visit, the crucial role of start-ups in Malta as a driver for innovation, combining research, technology and industry to create new opportunities was highlighted. Through such initiatives, the circular economy is being strengthened and an increasingly sustainable future is being prepared. This innovative project is funded by Science Malta through the FUSION: R&I Research Excellence Programme 2024, and is aligned with the Malta Vision 2050. This is as it promotes digital transformation, more efficient use of resources and innovative development based on our identity.                                                                 Photos: DOI/OPM
