Prime Minister Robert Abela, yesterday visited the facilities of the Obstacle Course Academy (OCA) in Mrieħel, where he met with children and parents who attend the academy and spoke to them about their experience in this sport.
Founded in 2020 by Ivan Gauci and Alex Tanti, OCA aims to encourage both children and adults to adopt a more active lifestyle. Over the years, the academy has grown into a strong community of athletes who are even competing successfully at an international level.
Prime Minister Abela emphasized the importance of sport. He said that the sporting spirit improves the quality of life and helps to build strong values such as discipline, determination and resilience.
The Prime Minister supported the Government’s commitment to continue to advance measures to get more people involved in physical activity, where he also made reference to the six-month free gym scheme, which from this year has been extended to young people between the ages of 16 and 21.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and the founders of the academy unveiled a commemorative plaque. A number of athletes from the academy also demonstrated their skills.
