The NGO SOS Malta will be benefiting from a social agreement that has been renewed with the Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, with an investment of more than one million euros spread over three years. This agreement will cover the Kellimni.com service, which provides online chat services, 24 hours a day.
Apart from this service, an individual, group and even family therapy service is being offered. Often, these services are triggered after a chat has been entered by an anonymous person requesting help due to certain difficult situations they are going through.
The Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon described this agreement as one that will continue to provide support to vulnerable people. “This agreement is one of 37 agreements that this Ministry currently has, with 25 entities working in the social sector. The budget for these agreements has increased again and will reach almost €15.4 million this year,” stated Minister Michel Falzon.
Head of SOS Malta, Graziella Schiavone stressed that such agreements give the administration peace of mind to continue investing in more professionals and services. “In fact, this agreement will lead to more hours of counselling, and free therapy sessions for those people who need this help.”
