Police have carried out the removal of an irregular migrant who did not qualify for protection in Malta.
The man had entered Malta in 2023 and failed to cooperate with the authorities regarding his departure. He was also sentenced to imprisonment after attempting to escape from a detention centre.
Through the joint efforts of the Police and the Returns Unit within the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment a valid identification document was obtained, enabling his forced return to his country of origin.
This marks the second forced return operation carried out by the Police during 2026.
