Hibernians were hoping to extend their lead in the bottom group of the Yo Health Malta Premier but a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Mosta means they are still only one point ahead of Gzira who also missed out on points, losing 2-0 to Zabbar.
Second half goals from Jake Vassallo and Pince Chibuzor Emmanuel gave Mosta the win and keeps them in third place, ahead of Zabbar St Patricks while Naxxar Lions are creeping into the picture thanks to a 1-0 win over bottom side Tarxien Rainbows.
Birkirkara’s season has well and truly fallen off the rails as they suffered another defeat, the fifth on the trot, in a 2-1 loss to Marsaxlokk.
Dodo opened the scoring for Marsaxlokk after 10 minutes but Fran Lopez equalised late in the half to make it 1-1 at the break
The game seemed to be heading for a draw but Marsaxlokk but Ensell Attard’s strike in extra time gave Marsaxlokk the win.
