Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett visited Raymond Caruana Garden in Gudja after extensive beautification and renovation work was completed.

These works were carried out by the Department of Public Works and among others, included landscaping and planting of new plants around the garden, refurbishment of gazebos, installation of new benches and other amenities, a security camera system, modern lighting as well as new paving that complements the environment of the area.

Repair work was also carried out on the fountain of this garden, with the installation of a new mechanical system. This open space has been renovated to continue serving as a green lung in the heart of this locality and a recreational space for the entire community.

Minister Chris Bonett explained how this project is part of the Government’s commitment to continue investing in open spaces for the benefit of families and communities. He said, “Although the work was extensive and took a number of months to complete, the final result is a modern and beautiful garden where families can spend their free time together and where children can play in a safe and suitable environment.”

Minister Bonett concluded by saying, “These interventions as well as other projects underway by various entities of the Ministry, are part of the Government’s work to give back beautiful open spaces to the people.”

Gudja Mayor Romeo Baldacchino said that projects like these are the result of close collaboration between the Government and the Local Councils. He explained how this project strengthens and renews the identity of this space to reflect today’s needs.
