Hamrun Spartans romped to a 6-1 victory against Birkirkara in the Yo Health Malta Premier League to keep in touch with leaders Florina.
Hamrun opened the scoring late in the first half when a clever flick by Mouad El Fanis found the back of the net but B’Kara drew level just before the break through Donovan Makoma.
The flood gates opened in the second half as Hamrun went on a goal spree. Matias Garcia started the goal rush within five minutes of the restart before Saliou Thioune extended their lead.
Matias Garcia grabbed his second, a fourth for Hamrun before Joseph Mbong made it 5-1 and N’Dri Koffi scored the sixth goal one minute from time to end a miserable evening for Birkirkara.
