With joint leaders Bayern Munich and Arsenal due to go head-to-head on Wednesday night, the chasing pack have the chance to close the gap, for tonight at least.
Two points behind the Bayern, Arsenal and Inter in third, Manchester City will be aiming to bounce back from their weekend loss to Newcastle when they entertain Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad Stadium tonight. Win tonight and they will take over at the top, at least until tomorrow night.
Maybe surprisingly, unless you are a Geordie fan, Newcastle are enjoying life in the Champions League. Three wins out of four sees them just a point behind the leaders. Perhaps not among the more glamorous of European clubs, they are showing they are a real force to be reckoned with. Their league performances got off to a rocky start but last weeks win against Manchester City will have lifted their confidence. Away to Marseille, Newcastle will have to be at their best to get something from this game.
Another mouthwatering game tonight is the clash between Chelsea and Barcelona. The London side are second in the Premier, behind Arsenal while Barcelona are just a point adrift of La Liga leaders Real Madrid.
