Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri and the Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela, inaugurated Casa Giuseppe, a new care and retirement home located in the heart of Rabat, Gozo. This private investment of over €6.4 million is offering a modern facility that combines the comfort of the elderly with the highest standards of security that a residential home should have.
During his visit, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to see various sections of the residence, including the rooms in which the residents live equipped with the latest technology and the best facilities. This residence also has a rooftop garden, an open space designed to offer an environment of serenity and contact with nature for the residents. The building itself was built with an emphasis on sustainability and with a space equipped for mental health respite.
Prime Minister Robert Abela also had the opportunity to sit and talk with residents in the ‘Club’ – the common area where the elderly meet for the activities organised for them every day. Here he was able to hear their experiences and appreciate the atmosphere that this home offers. Casa Giuseppe, which will accommodate 121 people and employ more than 90 professionals, is another testament to how the care sector is continuing to grow to offer services that provide the best care to the elderly in a personalised manner while maintaining their dignity.
Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that such investments, including from the private sector, are crucial to the Government’s vision towards a better quality of life for the elderly. “Today we are seeing evidence of how investment in Gozo is not only creating jobs, but is providing peace of mind and dignity to our elderly. This home is not just a building, but a living community where residents remain active and included in society”, stated the Prime Minister. He added that the Government will continue to support initiatives that place the person at the centre of care.
